Our Story
Since its inception in 2010 the Block Resource Management Committee BRMC under the auspices and mentorship of Bah Phrang Roy former IFAD President, Late Robert G. Lyngdoh-LIFCOM CEO, Daniel Ingty Project Director of Meghalaya Rural Development Society-MRDS, Late Dr. A. K. Nongkynrih Consultant with MRDS-IFAD were established with the objective to bridge the gap of community development and systematic delivery of various interventions to the rural marginalized community in various project Blocks that the project under the Livelihood Improvement Project for the HImalayas had envisaged.
The Block Resource Management Committee had been formed in various blocks of Jaintia Hills however till date the BRMC in East Jaintia Hills had been working on the sidelines in strengthening community dialogue, building community rapport, advocating public issues and also supporting local interventions initiated by the district based-departments.
Today, the BRMC has set a foothold not only across the villages of Saipung Block but in in few pockets of the district. It has partnered with institutions, skill-development centers and also with financial institutions for the overall achievement of self help groups and disadvantageous groups of society.
Through this maiden initiative called ‘Community Improvement Livelihood Project’ -CLIP the BRMC seeks to tap into the rural community where skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled persons require a push and up-scaling in their existing skill-sets and also to empower new groups within the community with innovative training skills and enhancing their livelihood activities through partnership and collaborative efforts for the overall interests of the community.
On behalf the BRMC, we extend our best wishes, collaborative efforts and demonstrative spirit to lend a helping hand to those who look up to mentoring, support and hand-holding to meet their dreams and aspirations.
